The duo of Tapan Mohanty and Devesh Sinha qualified for the India finals after emerging toppers amongst Audi owners at the lung opener of the Audi quattro Cup Golf Tournament (Qualifying Round), held at Bhubaneswar Golf Club here today.
Mohanty and Sinha combined to score a total of 58 stableford points to emerge as the top team amongst local Audi owners and overall runners-up. Audi Bhubaneswar hosted the Bhubaneswar leg of the Audi quattro Cup 2016.
The duo of Dibyalok Patnaik and AC Sutar emerged as the overall winners with a total of 66 points. The team of Ranjit Singh and Kailash Chandra Rath took home the runners up trophy with 61 points while Partha Saradhi and Manasi Mohapatra were placed as the second runners up trophy.
The event was played on the Team Stableford off individual Single Peoria Handicap system with six hidden holes and the individual scores of both players on the team were added to arrive at the final tally.
The evening gala dinner, which saw a scintillating performance by Sanam Puri, enthralled leading corporate czars of Bhubaneswar, present on the occasion. The show was compered by the stunning Divya Jaitley.
In various skill competitions held alongside the main event, Krisnendu Nandy won the ‘Straightest Drive’ on Hole No 16, while Sangramjit Pujari won the ‘Closest to the Pin’ on Hole No 6 and Dalbir Singh took home the ‘Longest Drive’ award on Hole No 8 for the second year running.
The Audi quattro Cup, in its 26th year this season, has become one of the most distinguished amateur golf tournaments around the world bringing together over 90000 golfers from 54 countries. The 8th season of the Indian edition will see it travel to 12 other cities and see the participation of over 1500 golfers. Audi Kolkata will host the next leg at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club over two legs on February 11 and 12.
